To me, Travail represents the process of experiencing great pain, and the metamorphizing effect that has on one’s self. You will never be the person you were prior to that pain again. It changes you. Oftentimes into someone you no longer recognize. It’s the ability to fully embrace your newly reformed self that will lift you above the pain and to a point of eventual peace.
